The long view to the entertaining area and connection to the garden is immediatley revealed upon entering the house. This leads you through into the new raked ceiling living spaces.
A large sliding door stacks behind the TV into the wall, allowing the living space to open up the to the outside. A connected feeling of being in the garden whilst being inside.
The original house suffered from poor connections in the Living areas. We purposely created intentional circulation spaces to each side of the new areas to easily navigate and accentuate the new living spaces.
It’s a simple idea, but we like to dwell on the edges of our spaces. A daybed in the sun which acts as additional living seating for guests often comes up in our work. A place to read a book or an afternoon snooze.
One major brief item was to connect the new living areas to the exterior. We did this by reversing the order of the living spaces, moving the kitchen back into the centre of the house, which enabled us to open up this order of the living room to the outdoor deck and existing swimming pool.
