Philosophy
Designing and building can be a daunting task, but it is also one of the most rewarding journeys one can undertake. At CSA, we collaborate closely with our clients, working with their ideals and aspirations to explore what it means to live in New Zealand in the twenty-first century. We encourage active engagement throughout the design process, ensuring that the experience itself is as enriching and rewarding as the final result.
At CSA, we believe architects have a duty to create spaces that enrich people's lives, fostering comfort, functionality, and well-being. We’re excited to be back home in New Zealand, applying the knowledge and skills we've gained overseas to design environments that truly enhance everyday living.
Kiwis are known for being humble and, like our flightless bird namesake, we sometimes withdraw from the world. This may be because we live as an isolated island nation, but it also comes from our natural surroundings. New Zealand has some of the most unique landscapes in the world.
CSA designs each project uniquely. We consider the land, history, community, and location to create buildings that fit naturally and feel timeless. It’s not just about looks, but about making the building truly belong.
Each project uses a complete design approach, focusing on sustainability from the start. Passive design saves the environment and cuts running costs. We include this early in the design to create well-rounded solutions.
We explore what it means to live in or use a space. Our architecture focuses on human experience and the senses, inspiring imagination. At CSA, we choose honest, natural materials to create meaningful spaces that leave a lasting impression.
